I wish I was at Glastonbury.

Someday! At least I hope so, of course along with all the other great music festivals. I mean, look at this, it’s massive:

Sweeping views: Aerial photograph of the vast temporary city which has sprung up at the Glastonbury Festival on a dairy farm in Somerset

And the line-up? It’s insane. Really. Don’t believe me? Click here and see for yourself. Even I don’t know who the majority of these people are, but I want to know!

Yesterday pretty much sucked, work-wise. I won’t go into details, it doesn’t really belong on the internets. But I was pissed-off all day long. I’m still a little pissed today, but not near as much.

But it really made me with I was at Glastonbury even more than I already wished I was there. At least BBC Radio is there, and I can listen to some of it.

Moving from massive British music festivals to British TV shows, I’m glad it’s Thursday because Graham Norton is on tonight! And he has Kristen Wiig and Steve Carrell and Chris O’Dowd on, so it’s sure to be a particularly funny show.

So last night, I finally watched Side Effects and The Brass Teapot, and I liked both of them. The Brass Teapot was funnier than I thought it was going to be, and Side Effects was interesting and a bit creepy, considering I take anti-depressants and it’s about (SPOILER) a woman who murders her husband as a supposed side-effect of her taking a particular (albeit nonexistent) anti-depressant. Thank goodness I’ve never experienced any side-effects remotely like she does.

Other than watching movies, I read for a good while. I”m currently reading 5 books. Yep, 5. Reading 2 or 3 at a time isn’t that odd for me, but 5 is alot. I’ve never read that many at one time before. One I’ve read before, multiple times, but the other four are all new to me. So, here’s what I’m reading:

  1. Re-reading Anna Karenina – I watched the movie last weekend, which made me want to read it again. It’s probably been two years or so since I’ve read it.
  2. The Rook, which is for our next book club & one I’ve wanted to read for a while.
  3. The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie
  4. Broken Harbor – I’ve been “reading” this on for a couple of months now, I think, but I just now really reading it.
  5. Maze Runner – a friend at work let me borrow it to read probably a month ago, and I’m just now reading it. But I should finish it this weekend.

I need to finish a few of these quickly so that I can get moving on my ridiculous To-Read list.

I think the only other thing to address today is this:

And it’s only supposed to clime to 102° actual temperature with a heat index of 105° to 115°. I think I need to move. (At least it’s not here to stay…well, not yet, anyway.)

One step forward…

Music Δ and something I really need.

What do you get when you combine my favorite painting (The Kiss by Gustav Klimt) and Star Wars?

This amazingly nerdy t-shirt!! Ok, so maybe I don’t exactly NEED it, but I really want it.

And now for the Music You Should Know Wednesday: Δ! Similar to last week, it’s a mix of stuff I’m hearing alot on BBC Radio, which I pretty much listen to all day at work. There are a few that I debated sharing my love for publicly, because they aren’t usually the kind of stuff I go for, but I went ahead and said “what the hell”:

  • Walks Like Rihanna by The Wanted – I couldn’t name a single song by The Wanted other than this, but I kinda love it.
  • Same goes for #Beautiful – I know nothing else by Miguel, and that fact that it’s called HASHTAGBeautiful really, really makes me want to hate it, but I just can’t.

Welcome back to Five Points.

That’s right, Copper is back! My Sunday evenings are filling up again: True Blood, Copper, Inspector Lewis, The Killing (as soon as I actually get caught up on season 2, which needs to be soon–as it is, I have four episodes recorded that are just taunting me), and The Newsroom is starting back up in a couple of weeks, too.

As for Top Ten Tuesday, I’m skipping it this week because I couldn’t can’t think straight (still not sleeping, even tried Benedryl at my mommy’s suggestion, but hasn’t really helped yet). Instead–since it’s Tuesday, I feel the need to include something regarding books–I give you this BuzzFeed list sent to me by my friend (and fellow book club member) Rebecca (thanks, by the way :)). Here’s my breakdown:

  • I’ve read #1 and #7 and loved both & think both will make good movies (at least I hope so).
  • I currently have #2, #3, #4, #5, #9, #11 and #14 on my To Read shelf – and most of them are near the top of that list (sadly, many of them have been there for quite some time).
  • I’ve heard of #12, but couldn’t decide if I wanted to read it or not (and I’m still not sure I want to).
  • #6, #8, #10 and #13 I’ve never heard of, but I’m now adding #10, and probably #13, to my To Read shelf on Goodreads.

Now over to art.

Several months ago–I actually think it was around Thanksgiving or Christmas time last year–I came across this on Pinterest and fell immediately in love and had to know more about the artist:

So, to the Saatchi Gallery online I went, and soon found what who I was seeking: Australian artist Loui Jover. I am now officially obsessed, especially with his current work (like the one above), which is done on vintage book pages. (By the way, I do the same–though not with vintage book pages & I don’t draw, I do other little artistic projects–great minds, people! Great minds.) Here is miniscule sampling of his work:

Art by Loui Jover

Well, I think that’ll do it for my today. Music Wednesday Δ is up tomorrow!

Hello there.

Hello again. Time to catch up on things, starting with last weekend.

This is what Tienna and I did Saturday morning:

Yep. We started making signs out of pallets. And I used the saw. I highly recommend it. It’s alot of fun. These two are unfinished, and we have several more we want to make. This is (hopefully) just the beginning.

I was supposed to go to a cook-out at my aunt’s Saturday night, but I was so tired, I skipped it. The last couple of weeks I haven’t been sleeping, and it’s really starting to take it’s tole. I’m so exhausted all the time–to the point where I’m fighting all day to keep my eyes open. I really don’t want to go thru this hell again, so I’m praying it turns around soon.

Then there was Sunday – not the best day I’ve had. As you probably know, Sunday was Father’s Day–my second without my dad. So it was rough. I ended up locking myself in my house and ignoring the outside world all day (that’s why I didn’t respond to those of you who called or text me). Up until that day, I was able push it all aside and kind of ignore it. I just told myself it was just another day, nothing special about it. That was all well and good until Sunday actually got here. And I’m pretty sure that’s just going to be a particularly difficult day for me for a very long time.

Moving on, or I”m gonna start crying at work, Monday morning at about 5am, I got a little surprise–I was sick. I guess I got a stomach bug of some sort that had me upchucking all day. I ended up missing work Tuesday as well because I still felt really yucky. Usually when I’m sick, the kiddos constantly check on my, especially Duke. Then there’s Ellie:

I get back to my camp on the couch, and this is what I find in my place. Apparently, she didn’t care that I was sick. There was a pillow for her to lay on, and a blanket for her to get under, so she was taking advantage of it.

Gotta love them.

Anything else? I missed Top Ten Tuesday this week, I didn’t even look to see what the theme was. And I missed music post Γ ( Gamma–third letter of the Greek alphabet) on Wednesday. I’m not going to make up TTT, but I couldn’t just skip the music altogether, so I decided to throw together a playlist this morning–there is no rhyme or reason to it, really. It’s just songs I’ve heard on BBC radio the last couple of days while working that I don’t have in my iTunes that I need to download.

Now I’m going to finish my Chipotle, then get back to work.

I’m back…sort of.

Thanks to getting a stomach virus, I’ve been out of commission for a couple of days, which means I’m even busier at work and don’t have much time to write over lunch like I usually do – and I feel like I have quite a bit to cover. So I will just say a quick la Orana (yo-rah-nah)–that’s “hello” in Polynesian–and maybe I will write tonight. Or maybe not. I have Beautiful Creatures and Jack Reacher coming from Netflix today so that may occupy a good chunk of my evening.

Just one more…

I know i declared yesterday movie trailer sharing day, but I have one more for another movie I really want to see: Elysium

That’s really it. And come on, 5’o’clock! This day, hell, this week has been way too long. Thank goodness for some potential creative fun tomorrow morning and some Man of Steel on Sunday.
